Membrane keypad technology is still today the best and most used control solution in many applications, especially those where features are required such as ease of use, design versatility, cost-effectiveness, speed of implementation and reliability in harsh environmental conditions such as continuous exposure to sunlight, water and humidity, wide thermal fluctuations and even strong electromagnetic disturbances (EMC).

The use of adhesive materials, screen-printed plastic films with conductive or decorative inks, coupled together to form an extremely thin single structure, form the base of the membrane keypad and make virtually it a control solution adaptable to any type of design and application.

Graphic Overlay

A wide range of overlay options are available in terms of material type, thickness, coatings and surface treatment. Any colour and any design you may request can be screen printed with our superior quality inks and thank to our computer controlled colour mixing equipment.

Circuits

The development and realization of the electric circuit of membrane switches have always been distinctive points of Tastitalia productions. From single and double-sided flexible circuits on a polyamide or polyester base, to rigid multilayer or simple double-layer one, we always offer the most suitable solution in response to the functional needs of the project.

Embossing

The embossing of the key has always been a key feature to ensure the membrane keypad functionality and operability. High aesthetic value and design flexibility complete the list of benefits that this Tastitalia process is able to add in the realization of a quality membrane keyboard.

Keys

Tactile effect is another membrane keypads distinctive feature. Using structures with embossed overlay and double contact in silver (polydome) or metal domes integrated in the layers of the keypad, Tastitalia is able to craft keys with multiple sizes, shapes and actuation forces to meet any market request. For applications with extreme life cycles of up to 20 million actuations and where hardness, rapid tactile response and absolute reliability are required, the Tastitalia solution is called Duraswitch Pushgate®. SILICON RUBBER KEYPADS

Durability, robustness and ductility at the highest levels

A good alternative to membrane keypads, the silicone rubber keypads offer a large number of advantages and possibilities.
Based on vulcanised rubber, this technology is perfectly suited to create distinctive 3D shapes even complex ones and with inimitable design and offering at the same time the opportunity to have an unparalleled tactile feedback compared to other control technologies.
Other benefits are the practically infinite possibilities of colouring, different options for finishes and hardness to craft a control interface that is not only resistant and reliable but also aesthetically pleasing and qualifying for the entire device.
Furthermore, the integration and combination with plastic structures and buttons, with flexible or rigid circuits and therefore with backlighting systems, make it an extremely versatile product and capable of satisfying the specific regulations of each area of application.

Keys

The silicone keypad finds its natural field of application in all those control systems where very stylized forms and particular key shapes are required. The contact closure system can also be obtained in different ways: directly integrated in the keypad such as the carbon contact pill or with metal pill or through a proper designed key structure and metal domes or tactile switches mounted on rigid circuit (PCB) or on flexible circuit with silver or copper tracks.
The manufacturing of coloured keys and icons can be carried out for processes such as screen printing, tampography or painting and lasering. Finishes and coatings can finally be made on the surface of the keyboard to transmit different tactile sensations and increase the resistance to severe environments with intensive uses and with the presence of UV rays, dust, sand, oils, petrols, salt water, sanitizing liquids and so on.

Integrations

No other control technology is so ideal as the silicone rubber keypad to be integrated with functional and aesthetic elements such as injection molded or co-molded plastic key caps or with metal key caps and supports or front panels made of plastic or metal as well.
Thanks to Tastitalia’s experience and proven design skills, silicone keypads become the basis for creating more complex and complete control interfaces with the presence of selective backlight systems for keys, light sensors, electronics and plastic or metal self-supporting structures that turn them into real control plug & play systems.

The use of elegant, resistant and contemporary aesthetic materials such as glass, plexiglass and polycarbonate, together with the advanced options and possibilities offered by electronics, blend together in a perfect mix that allows you to meet and fulfil any aesthetic and functional need.
One of the essential elements for the development of capacitive technology are the touch sensors between the glass or plastic front layer and the electronic board and therefore the design and construction of this component has always covered a decisive factor in Tastitalia. Using sensors with conductive inks in silver, copper or ITO (indium-tin oxide) no design becomes impossible and thanks to the accuracy, precision and complete control of our processes, we can provide the answers to all your design requests.
Get different sensibilities for the keys and create advanced features such as slider and wheel, are all skills that Tastitalia puts at the service of its customers. We design and develop each time custom controller boards with different communication protocols such as SPI or I2C, to interact in an efficient and precise way with the customer’s electronics and in consideration of the applications and the functional specifications of the product use market.
